Site Updates

August 20th 2016

Just when everyone was convinced that this site had been left for dead without so much as a goodbye message, a wild update appears! To make a very long story short, this unexpected hiatus was never intended or planned.

Basically, what happened was that the site’s overall gameplan was suffering from mission creep, and back in September of 2014 I decided the best way to deal with it would be to remodel the website to remove what wasn’t needed, better support what was, and prepare for future expansion. Over time, multiple attempts were made, but none were completed and some of them were even effectively stillborn as they choked on the same problems they were supposed to fix.

After a lot of work, I finally decided on how to move forward, remade the site’s scripts from the ground up and added back in the old content. There is much left to do, but to a large degree things are ready to go live once again.

In the near future, expect things to be refined in addition to new content appearing once again.

Several pages were tweaked, with the menus getting a little more attention.

August 29th, 2014

Four new symbols were added.

August 22nd, 2014

Various pages were touched up or re-written.

August 6th, 2014

One new tutorial was added; this was meant to be part of yesterday’s update, but it somehow slipped through the cracks.

August 5th, 2014

Four new tutorials have been added!

July 26th, 2014

Eight new symbols and one new category have been added! New tutorials will come soon!

July 19th, 2014

Several tutorials have been revamped, and a few alternative tutorials have been added. This should wrap up the tutorial revamps for a while.

July 12th, 2014

Another tutorial revamped, and a lot of other pages have been tweaked.

June 28th, 2014

Two tutorials have been revamped. Also, I’ve been studying up on some new (to me) software and may be able to start offering SVG versions of the symbols in the download area in the future.

June 20th, 2014

Three new symbols have been added. That’s something that hasn’t happened in a while.

Additionally, the download section has expanded slightly, as you can now download just the clip art in the categories you want instead of having to download the entire collection.

June 13th, 2014

Two tutorials redone, with more to come in the near future.

June 2nd, 2014

Four more tutorials redone so you aren’t expected to use a grid.

May 27th, 2014

Simple tweaks and updates; largely checking about the site and correcting tutorials that were displayed wrong or fixing obsolete links.

May 21st, 2014

A few tutorials have been retouched, and a new one added.

May 8th, 2014

Slowly but surely things are moving along. Several of the cross tutorials have been redone. I tend to work on a grid, and most of the current tutorials reflect that. However, many people don’t, so I’ve started redoing tutorials so that things are easily done without grids.

April 5th, 2014

Signs of things to come: there’s a new feature on most pages. Now you can switch to a clean printer-friendly layout by clicking the link on the sidebar!

This option should also result in a nice format for displaying on your smartphone or tablet while you follow tutorials!

Wow. That was quite the delay.

In this case, I either forgot to work on this site or was busy working on other projects. I have a bad habit of biting off more than I can chew, and so things get pushed down the line as other things run over. Fortunately, I’ve completed several projects and placed others on hiatus, so I’ve freed up a lot of time to work on other things.

Most of this last update was a bit of re-organization, as I still wasn’t entirely happy with how that one section turned out. I’ve broken it up a bit and will soon be working on cleaning up the pages already present. For example, I think many of the tutorials are over complicated and some other pages don’t really provide their content well. Hopefully the next big update will come before May.

February 1st, 2014

Yikes, what happened?

Long story short, I ran into trouble re-writing the section I wasn’t happy with. Between multiple retries, writer’s block, a possible touch of the winter blues and over taxing myself with too many projects, things really didn’t work out. In the middle of January I looked things over again, and now I don’t know what was so wrong with those pages. So, I’ve merely completed the upgrades to the site’s scripts and prepared the way for things to come. Hopefully this time I’ll be able to update once a month or more.

October 22nd, 2013

After a lot of fussing about, I’ve finally managed to get the update done. In a nutshell, the last layout didn’t really take into account how to manage linking within a section. Thus, I needed to come up with a better design and convert everything over — hence the sudden lack of updates. Getting a design I liked was much harder than expected, but I think the new layout will work just fine. In the near future, a few pages will get re-writes, and then we’ll be back to adding new tutorials and symbols like we were doing before this mess began.

September 3rd, 2013

Part of the beginner tutorials have been re-written.

August 26th, 2013

Between getting bogged down with other projects and being sick, I ended up neglecting this site longer than planned. On the plus side, it had only been since early this month; I thought it was last updated much longer ago. The bad news is that I somehow derped when proofing the site, and discovered that an entire section has been malfunctioning since at least July. This has been remedied. Expect more updates in the near future!

August 2nd, 2013

Tweaks continue; Shapeplay and Palette Helper have been upgraded to the new layout.

July 27th, 2013

Updates have been slow lately for several reasons, not the least of which is an in progress overhaul of the entire site. This time, the change is due more to feedback than anything else, and heads towards a better, more useful site in the future. The update is not complete, but enough of the layout has been updated to warrant releasing the new design.

August 31th, 2012

Over time, this site has grown to include 52 tutorials, 28 symbols and 2 interactive widgets. Today marks the day the site was completely overhauled to be easier to use and learn from!

September 25th, 2011

Site launched with 17 tutorial pages, 2 symbols (Latin cross, Greek cross) and 1 interactive widget. More to come in the future! Back to the top of the page
