How to draw a triquetra this article will explain partially using a compass! The triquetra is an ancient sacred symbol of Central and Northern Europe. This symbol represents the phases of the Sun’s movement across the sky. Many people used it as an amulet symbolizing rebirth and infinity. For the ancient Scandinavians, however, this symbol represented a triad and was closely associated with the god of thunder and lightning (Thor). There is another interpretation of this symbol. It is also called the “triquetra knot.”
The history of the triquetra dates back to ancient times. It was used not only by the Celts and Scandinavians, but also by the British, Germans, and Slavs. For many people, the triquetra had sacred significance. Only archaeological artifacts have survived to this day, which are still the subject of debate in scientific circles. For example, archaeologists have found the first images of the triskelion symbol dating back to the Bronze Age. Apparently, the British and Scandinavians used it as a lunar calendar.
This symbol was used to decorate various household items in many countries around the world. For example, the image was found on coins belonging to Norwegian administrators in York, who belonged to the Yngling dynasty.
However, it should not be forgotten that the triquetra symbol is not just a decorative pattern for household items. It is, first and foremost, a sacred symbol, the ancient meaning of which is unknown to us, leaving us only to believe in theoretical guesses.
Drawing a tricute is extremely difficult because you have to use only a manual approach at first, but we will show you in detail how to do it, and at the final stage, you can use a compass! The triquetra did not bypass Christianity, where it was given a different interpretation. In Christianity, this symbol represents the Holy Trinity. In the early days of Christianity, the symbol was drawn as three intertwined fish. This image was also given the name “Fish Bladder.” Later, this name was changed to “Jesus Fish.”
According to the most common version among scientists, the triquetra symbolizes the movement of the sun. Its petals indicate the three main phases of the sun’s position. This, in turn, implies a sequential change in the phases of human existence. In a broad sense, the Triskelion is the cyclical harmony of the universe. There is also another version, according to which the symbol was closely associated with the god of the seas, Mananna. As we can see, the symbol is indeed mentioned in many writings and among different people.
The triquetra is not only a stylish accessory, but also has a significant impact on the life of its owner. In addition, the triquetra was used to protect against dark forces and attract positive vibrations. The triquetra is a rather energy-intensive symbol that, like water, easily absorbs all the energy and emotions of people.
It is recommended to wear it around the neck, placing it in the chest area. Why exactly in this place? The fact is that in this area, the symbol collects a large amount of energy. This symbol can also be used by magicians as an energy shield.
It improves mood, helps to concentrate on one thing, cleanses and strengthens the human biofield, gives confidence, and protects against damage. It is also a symbol of rebirth, death, and life. The fact is that the symbol placed on the neck has a beneficial effect on the human body.
Black is considered the traditional color. Other color options are rarely used. For those who want to add brightness to the symbol, it is best to color other elements, while the Triskelion itself is best drawn in black. A Celtic shamrock tattoo on a woman’s body looks sexy. Especially if the symbol is diluted with a floral pattern depicting flowers. In this way, the tattoo will protect feminine charm and mystery. For men, however, such a tattoo has no deep meaning. Often, it merely indicates sincere faith in God or reflects the person’s interest in Celtic culture.
Let’s get started right now on drawing the famous triquetra symbol!
How to draw a triquetra easy
Step 1
This is a very difficult drawing because much of it will have to be done by hand (without using a compass)! To simplify the drawing, we will use the center of an A4 sheet of paper!
Step 2
The central point a4 is important because it is a kind of “coordinate system” that simplifies drawing!
Step 3
In this step, we create a triangle!
Step 4
Draw this triangle with the dimensions shown in the figure!
Step 5
At this stage, we take the center point of the triangle, which is marked with a cross! And we draw the first arc ONLY BY HAND (I tried using a compass, but it didn’t work, only by hand)!
Step 6
This central point of the triangle will have the following dimensions in centimeters!
Step 7
In the same way, starting from the center point and knowing its dimensions in centimeters, we draw two more arcs by hand!
Step 8
And this picture serves as a reminder of the dimensions of the central point in centimeters, since without it, it is practically impossible to draw these three arcs by hand!
Step 9
And here we draw the elements of the inner part of the arcs of the triquetra!
Step 10
The distance between all arc elements is approximately 1.3 centimeters!
Step 11
And now we draw the following elements of the triquetra step by step as shown in the picture!
Step 12
We are now completely finished drawing the lower right arc of the triquetra!
Step 13
In the same way, draw the remaining two arcs of the triangle, the upper and lower right parts!
Step 14
In this step, we erase the elements of the auxiliary triangle and parts of the arc elements!
Step 15
In total, we should end up with this triangle pattern!
Step 16
And at this stage, as you already understand, the center of our triquetra is important, and we will continue drawing from it!
Step 17
Here, we simply take a compass and draw a circle with a radius of 5.5 cm!
Step 18
You can draw a circle simply along the entire line of the triquetra (later we will erase the extra lines in order)!
Step 19
And in this step, we will use a compass to draw a second circle with a smaller radius!
Step 20
In total, we end up with two circles that look something like this!
Step 21
Next, as indicated by the arrows, we delete these 4 elements!
Step 22
Erase 4 more elements in the same way!
Step 23
And four more elements of our triquetra!
Step 24
The final drawing should look like this!
Step 25
And in this final stage of drawing the triquetra, we simply color it red!
