How to draw a goat in different ways will be told in this article! Goats and sheep were among the first animals domesticated by humans. They were apparently domesticated 8,000-12,000 years ago, in the Late Stone Age (Neolithic), as evidenced by fossil remains and rock carvings found in various parts of Europe, Asia Minor, and Central Asia.
Systematically, goats and sheep are very close to each other – they belong to the spirochaetes (Artiodactyla), the family Bovidae, and the subfamily of goats (Caprinae).
Some scientists even consider goats (Sarga) and rams (Ovis) to be members of the same genus. However, most specialists do not share this point of view. It is not difficult to distinguish a domestic goat from a sheep – at least by the characteristic “goatee” or by the shape of horns. Wild representatives of these two genera are much more diverse, and it is not easy to determine who a “goat” is and who a “sheep” is. Moreover, as it was said, zoologists themselves do not always adhere to a single opinion on this matter. On the other hand, various breeds of domestic goats and sheep are often very different from each other. Goats were probably domesticated somewhat earlier than sheep, as archaeological excavations find either only their bones or the bones of both goats and sheep together.
Let’s draw a goat together in a fun and exciting way! Domestic goats belong to the sarga circus species. When discussing the degree of their kinship with one or another wild species, features such as skull structure, horn structure, and the possibility of obtaining fertile offspring as a result of interbreeding are taken into account.
Bezoar or bearded goats (C.aegagrus) are considered the main candidates for wild ancestors of domestic goats. In many manuals, C.hircus and C.aegagrus are even considered synonyms, i.e. names of the same species. Bezoar goats are found in the mountainous regions of Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Caucasus, Transcaucasia, and Asia Minor, as well as the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. They got the name “bearded” because of their thick and long “beard”, and bezoars are peculiar foreign bodies (mineralized deposits of food remains), which are sometimes found in their (as well as in other ungulates) stomachs or intestines.
Since these formations were attributed to medicinal properties, wild goats were actively hunted. Now, they are preserved only in inaccessible areas and are included in the lists of threatened species in the International Red Book. Bezoar goats are larger than domestic goats – the height of males at the withers reaches 95 cm. They have a reddish-grey or brownish-yellow colour with a black stripe along the back. The forehead, chest and front side of the neck are brownish-black. The horns of bezoar goats are large, flattened from the sides, forming a semicircle and diverging from the base. In cross-section, they are triangular with a sharp front edge, on which nodes and serrations protrude.
And let’s immediately start drawing the goat!
How to draw a goat Easy (option 1)
Step 1
The first step in drawing a goat is to create an oval in the center of the drawing
Step 2
Next, draw two parallel lines at an angle (the base of the head).
Step 3
We also draw the base of the neck of our goat.
Step 4
Outline the eyes and horns
Step 5
Create the base of the goat’s legs
Step 6
Draw eyes, hooves, and tail
Step 7
At this step, draw the udder bell and make the body of the goat darker
Step 8
Draw the hooves and tail
Step 9
Draw the beard and horns at this stage
Step 10
Coloring our goat
How to draw a goat for kids (option 2)
You will need:
- a pencil;
- a piece of paper;
- eraser;
Step 1
Torso
The body of our goat is drawn as an oval. Depending on the size you want the animal to be, the oval should be the same size.
Step 2
Neck
Now, let’s add a neck to our goat. To do this, draw two lines from different points of our oval.
Using an eraser, remove unnecessary contours where the torso joins the neck.
Step 3
Head
The head of the goat will also be drawn as an oval. Draw the head in proportion to the torso so that it is not too big or too small.
Step 4
Paws
What is a goat without legs? Draw four legs with neat lines. And don’t forget that they have hooves at the bottom.
Now, with the help of an eraser, we will remove unnecessary lines. We hope you are doing well. This drawing already looks a little like a goat.
Step 5
Horns
Now, we should think about how to draw small, beautiful horns for our goat. We draw two rounded arcs on each horn and give them the desired shape. For this purpose, there is always an eraser at hand.
Step 6
Ears
The ears of our animal look like two slightly curved ovals. Carefully draw these elements. Pay attention to the fact that one ear is bigger than the other. After all, it is hidden behind the head and visually further.
Step 7
Tail and tongue
To make our goat look cheerful, let’s draw her tongue. And let’s draw a tail because what goat is a goat without a tail?
Step 8
Udder and hair
To let your child know that it is a goat and not a goat, draw an udder. And add wool to the legs because they should be furry.
Step 9
Muzzle
In the last stage, let’s draw eyes, nose, and mouth. And how can a goat be without a bell? Children usually love this element in drawing, so don’t forget to pay attention to it.
Step 10
You can color as you wish
