How to Draw Mario will be described in this article! The importance of a game character like Mario cannot be overestimated, and it’s hard to find a person who has never heard of him. This mustachioed Italian plumber, who was originally conceived as a sailor or a carpenter, conquered all imaginable and unthinkable platforms, shone on television, and clearly showed that princesses can save not only knights. In this article, we analyze the Mario phenomenon and tell you about the best games of the most popular gaming mascot in the world – just in time for the release of the fresh Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Any character begins with his name, and many people immediately wonder – what is Mario’s real name? Is Mario a first name or a last name? It’s both. If you are at least a little familiar with the history of the series or just played as a child in games about the mustachioed plumber, you must have heard about the name of the game “Mario Brothers”, where the main characters were actually two brothers – Mario and Luigi. But why then “Mario Brothers” and not “Mario and Luigi Brothers”? It’s simple. Mario is both a first and last name. Yes, you read that right, in the Mario universe, a character in the games is called none other than Mario Mario.
Drawing Mario is a meticulous and detailed activity! Even though Mario’s adventures visit a huge number of kingdoms, planets, and even universes, he has a homeland. The stocky plumber of Italian-American origin lives in a certain Mushroom Kingdom, and it may seem that Mario’s only daily occupation is to fight all sorts of villains. And so it is: the protagonist may have once done plumbing work for a modest fee, but now it’s his job to stop the villainous Bowser’s attempts to steal the Mushroom Kingdom’s princess, Peach. Other Nintendo characters, such as Donkey Kong or Mario’s evil version, Wario, also frequently decide to be baroque, and they too have to be knocked out.
Mario, as previously mentioned, has a younger brother Luigi, who was originally made as an optional character for the second player in the doubles games, but has since acquired his own personality, and story, and in some games, he even acted as a protagonist. And yes, Luigi’s profession, like Mario’s, is also a plumber.
Not many people remember, but Mario Bros. – is not the first game in the series that started the Mario story. It’s hard to imagine, but Mario made his debut 42 years ago – in 1981 on arcade machines in a simple Donkey Kong game. There on one screen, the hero had to climb the platforms from bottom to top, where Donkey Kong – a silly and aggressive gorilla, threw on Mario all sorts of life-threatening garbage. Mario had to confront the gorilla not just for fun, but… how else could it be – to save Princess Pauline (not Peach at the time), whom Donkey Kong was keeping in his captivity for unknown, but not the most honorable reasons. Mario did not have a familiar name at the time, and his name was simply Jumpman.
Jumpman appeared only as an alternative because initially it was planned to make a protagonist spinatoeod and Sailor Popeye, but obtaining the rights to the character somehow did not work out. It’s for the best.
Look and draw a beautiful Mario!
Easy to draw Mario
For this, we will need a simple pencil, eraser, black liner, white pen, and markers.
Let’s get started. Let’s take a simple pencil and start drawing. We start drawing Mario with 2 circles. 1 circle is the head, which we give immediately axis, a little bit at an incline.
After that on this circle draw the nose, and eyes on one side and the other. Axis draw necessarily. This is done so that we have symmetry.
Then above the eyes, we draw eyebrows.
From the eyebrows already draw the visor of the cap.
After the visor, we lower the head near the eyes and slightly expand the cheeks. After that, we make the chin small and connect the bottom part. Here we have a face.
Next, we draw a mustache in such waves. Three waves. One-two-three – we got a mustache.
We work symmetrically. Right and left sides we have the same.
Draw the eyes.
Next draw hair and the cap itself, drawing it from above. Watch for symmetry.
Draw a logo or symbol with the letter “M” on the cap.
After that, we draw the ears.
Now the bottom circle can immediately be drawn and after that, we draw straps on this circle. This circle we have – Mario’s stomach.
In the upper and lower part, we circle and after that, we draw the legs to the lower part.
At the top, a little expand and make arms. First, make a sleeve.
Then a little wrap and draw the fist. The fist is just a circle with a small finger.
Draw a wrap on the pants and draw the boot. Arc-shaped line rounded and get a boot. At the bottom of a small sole.
Do the same thing on the left side. Draw a wrap and redraw the boot. It will be located the same as the right one, but mirror.
Try to keep the legs on the same line.
After that draw the next arm, which will go up.
And immediately from it draw the same fist. There will be a hand a little more complicated. First, draw a finger and then draw the back four fingers that we have bent.
Well, Mario is almost ready.
We begin to draw the elements of the game. On the left, we will have a fungus. It’s simple. Draw a circle, and from the bottom add a circle leg.
Then draw a few circles on the cap mushroom and two eyes on the leg. The mushroom is ready.
And here on the right side, I do not even know whether it is a thorn or an animal or some plant biting.
So we draw this flower. We drew the pot, we drew the stem.
We drew a circle and to the circle already make a slit. This will be his mouth.
In this mouth, it is necessary to draw fangs. Here are such sharp teeth drawing ordinary triangles
And you also need to write a caption at the bottom.
Outline the drawing with a black line and erase all the simple pencils.
Let’s go to the filling. Take 16 colors. This is bright red even light red I would say and this color fills all the red that we have.
Next, we take a little darker color (fifth) and begin to fill the dark color, the remaining parts of the red color. On the cap, on the flower, on the fungus.
Now we need a shirt. The same color fills the shirt, leave the trims and first draw leave the trims untouched. It will even be gloves most likely.
Now we need a shirt. With the same color fill the shirt, leave the linings and first draw leave the linings untouched. It will even be gloves most likely.
The second color is a dark maroon, almost like black. With the second color, we pass the shadow. Pass the shadow on the shirt. Pass the shadow in the mouth of the flower.
Also in the mouth of the flower forgot to make a tongue. Therefore, once again the mouth of the flower passes 16 colors.
Then 74 color. This is blue.
Then 72 color pass the shadow on the overalls, the shadow under the straps.
They forgot to make the letter “M” red. We’ll make sure to do it.
Next, we move on to beige color. Take 25 color and pass them to the head of our Mario.
Also, pass the legs, and pass the mushroom with the same color. The second layer I do – add a small shadow.
Then I take 97 color and refine them into shadows under the visor, under the mustache, and on the chin. Legs also pass this color, darker, leaving 25 as light.
Also, add a shadow on the mushroom.
I go to a darker color – 93. I go through the hair again. I strengthen the shadow on the shoes, the shadow on the mushroom.
Forgot to do the ears. Pass the ears.
Go to color 48. We make a flower. The first 48 light colors make light on the flower because, after all, we have light on the right side.
And dark green color fills everything else. (I have it 47).
Then we take the green color and fill the letters on our inscription “Super Mario”.
And again we forgot the nose. The nose is covered with 25 colors and makes a small shadow at the bottom.
Now I take dark green and start making the darkest, darkest shadows.
47 I blur a little bit of the 42 dark color.
bg1 With this color I do drop shadows all the time because I like when drop shadows are cool.
Also, fill all the white we have in the image with this color.
Yellow color fills the plaques on the jumpsuit and 3 letters on the inscription. The usual yellow color (mine is 35).
Next, I take a blue color and fill letters and eyes with it. Blue color – 66.
Let’s go to vg3. We begin to add shadows on the sleeves, and on the gloves.
Even 2 colors already get volume, so if you do not have other gray colors, then you will have enough of these two to make and falling shadow and volume on all white parts.
Vg 5. Even more, intensify the shadow. You may or may not do this. I like it very contrasty – there is a light color and a dark shadow.
Next, we’ll take color 98. It’s a dark brown. We pass it through the eyebrows and mustache of our Mario.
We move on to the 5th stage – correcting the black liner. At this stage, we strengthen the eyes. All of them work out, make a thicker stroke, shading the pupil, stroke the nose, and remove all the white holes. All clean up, clean up, tweak, tweak, tweak.
Add veins on the leaf. At the back remove the green light parts.
Outline the shoes.
The inscription could be circled with a black line, but I will first pass the largest places with black color, and then already with black line. Here there is a high probability that the black could get into the text and spoil the inscription. To make the inscription clear and beautiful, it is better to work with a black liner. Here it is important to remove all the white dots.
Our 5th stage is nearing completion, which means that soon our work will be ready. Finalize the inscription. Remove all the white dots in the lettering. We’re smoothing it out, cleaning it up.
We can move on to the white pen. We take a white pen and go to the 6th stage.
Bring beauty, add more shine, and make our work airy. Be sure to put dots in the darkest places. See how they affect our image. It’s gorgeous!
I added white highlights to the jumpsuit and the jumpsuit immediately sparkled.
That’s how we got Super Mario. It’s done.
I’ll say goodbye. Goodbye! See you again!
