Corgi Drawing Step by Step

Corgi drawing will be described in this article in 2 different ways! Corgis are amazing dogs with a rich history of origin. For ten centuries of the breed’s existence, many myths and legends have been written about their origin. The official homeland of these dogs is considered to be England. More precisely, Wales, which once was Camelot, was where the meetings of the Knights of the Round Table were held. Therefore, it is not surprising that the inhabitants of the region, who were rich in legends, surrounded the history of the origin of small shepherds with a mythical halo.

According to Welsh legend, corgis were given to humans by grateful fairies. The winged fairy creatures used the small, short-legged dogs as sled dogs. Because of this, corgis have patches of darker fur growing on their backs. In shape, these spots resemble a saddle and can be regarded as an indirect confirmation of the fairy tale story of the breed’s origin. True, the beautiful legend does not mention why the fairies thanked humanity with such a generous gift.

Among the many legends about the origin of the corgi, there is another interesting story that deserves attention. According to it, peasant children, walking through the forest, found two tiny fox-like animals on the branches of a tree. They took them with them and, bringing them home, learned from their parents that they were small dogs ridden by fairy fairies.
This is one of the oldest breeds of dogs, so the history of the origin of the corgi has many unexplained moments. The first mention of the short, short-legged sheepdog dates back to the 10th century.

The records of that time contain information that the breed was created specifically for herding cows. The compact, stunted dogs deftly dodged the blows of cattle and, biting their charges by the legs, drove them in the right direction.
Interesting! The breed, formed in England, was very valued in the homeland. In the history of corgis, there are known facts that for killing these dogs, the owners received compensation from the culprit in the form of a whole ox.

Among the dogs, from which supposedly bred mini-dogs, were Norwegian Spitzes, Samoyeds, Schipperke, and Keeshondes. But there is another version, according to which the origin of mini-dogs has to do with completely different breeds. According to it, the origin of the corgi is connected with the Scandinavian shepherd dogs, which came to the territory of Wales thanks to the Vikings.
